Within minutes, half the town was there. Kids on bikes, old ladies in curlers, even grumpy Mr. Dobbins from the corner shop. Phones were out, people filming, whispering. Was it the new construction site? The rain last week? Aliens? Someone joked about the town finally falling apart. But no one laughed. Not really. Because the longer they looked, the more wrong it all felt.
