As the key turned, the air hissed. A low exhale swept through the chamber. Dust rose. The shape on the pedestal shimmered, then sank into itself like a puddle drying in reverse. A groan rumbled beneath their feet. “It’s not sealed,” Eddie said. “It’s dying.” The entire room shuddered. Cracks spread. The stone above them groaned. Carla’s eyes widened. “We need to go.”
