As Carl spun around nervously, shining his trembling flashlight across the dim space, new noises emerged. This time, they weren’t the chaotic echoes of random footsteps. Instead, a deliberate, guttural breath emanated from a shadowy corner of the room. Carl froze, fear locking him in place. He realized he had no other place to run to. Summoning courage, he stammered, “Hello? Is there anyone in here?” hoping for silence but fearing a response.
