Even though Brody and Mike felt like they had the upper hand, they were actually not the hunters at all in this strange race. They were the prey, being lured deeper into the lion’s hole on purpose. Brody and Mike pressed on cautiously, their flashlights clutched in their hands for when they had to make a daring escape. The faint sulfuric smell lingered, but a new odor, something metallic and bitter, began to permeate the air now, too.
