A fork in the road
“Gold?” Mike asked, his voice just as surprised as Brody’s was. Brody shook his head. “Maybe. Or something else.” The air grew colder as they descended further. Their breath became visible, misting in front of them as they walked. They reached a fork in the tunnel, one path sloping steeply downward and the other veering sharply to the left. It was an easy choice to make. But one they would soon come to regret.
