Painful shouts
Unable to bear the heat, Brody cried out and jumped back, clutching his face. The burns weren’t bad enough that he needed to be hospitalized. But it hurt enough for his ear and cheek to glow red, with some blisters already forming. The machine turned out to be an old coal oven, which the old man had just turned on, something he did on purpose, knowing that the body stood behind it.
