As they loaded the cage into their van, one of the handlers turned to John and Bob. “This is a Taiwanese clouded leopard,” he explained. “It’s an endangered species, and this one appears to be in good health. You’ve done an incredible job keeping it contained.” John nodded, feeling a mix of relief and pride. But his mind also posed a new question: What was an endangered species doing in his garden?
