A wooden reminder
John felt a deep gratitude as the sun set and the party wound down. His property was safe, the animal was secure, and life had returned to its peaceful rhythm. It was something he would never take for granted again. Even his irritation at work seemed unimportant to him now. The wild cat might have left his backyard, but its story would remain with him forever. And his oak reminded him of that.
