If you are pregnant you might be looking at planning a whole new wardrobe for yourself, and this is never an easy task.
Being pregnant means that your body is changing and will continue to do so for the next 9 months. It also means that your priorities with clothes and how you dress will change and you will have different needs.
If you continue to dress the exact way you do pre-pregnancy during your pregnancy, you might find yourself becoming increasingly uncomfortable. If you dress in a way that works for pregnant women specifically, you should find the whole process a lot easier and comfier.
Does that sound good to you?
If it does, check out our following top 5 top tips on how to dress when you are pregnant.
1. Make comfort the priority
Of course, you want to be as fashionable during pregnancy as you were before you were pregnant, we get that.
But foregoing high fashion for comfort during pregnancy is 100% the right decision.
The more comfortable you are the more you will feel up to getting out and being active, which is really important during pregnancy.
Also, don’t underestimate how much comfort or discomfort can have a direct link to your mood levels.
Uncomfy clothes and heavy pregnancy belly – bad mood. Simple as that.
2. Always go for flat shoes
Partly for comfort and partly for the health of your bump, always go for flat shoes when you are pregnant.
Heels will set you and your bump at a bad angle for your posture and they also greatly increase your risk of falling, which is never what you want as a pregnant person.
Go for flat, comfortable shoes for the whole pregnancy and save yourself any trouble.
3. Pick stretchy materials
You will get bigger during your pregnancy and there are no two ways about that.
When you are buying new clothes for yourself, always pick materials that will give and stretch. This is great for two reasons: one, it is comfortable, and two, it will save you constantly buying new clothes throughout your pregnancy. If you don’t buy clothes that stretch and move with your body, you will need new clothes every trimester.
Save yourself time and money and go for stretchy fabrics whenever you can.
4. Choose shoes that don’t cover your ankles
One of the worst parts of pregnancy (if you ask me) is ankle swelling. It might not happen to everyone but it happens to a lot of us.
If you are buying new shoes for your pregnancy, go for sandals, slip-ons, or comfortable, soft trainers that don’t come up over your ankles.
This will give you some room to swell and keep your shoes from digging into you.
It’s better to prepare than deal with the consequences later, trust me.
Consider bathroom breaks
Whilst dungarees and jumpsuits are very cute, they aren’t always practical when you have to use the bathroom 20 times a day.
Being pregnant puts pressure on your bladder and this means frequent bathroom trips, usually in public spaces.
Remember this when you are choosing your next set of pregnancy clothes!
We’re going for practical and comfortable above all else ladies.
